How we rate motorcycles
Independent verdicts built by consolidating the experts, not recycled press releases.
Our score is a consolidation, not a single opinion
Any one reviewer can have an off day, a favourite brand, or a press bike set up just so. So a KickTheStand score is never one person's take. For every motorcycle we rank, we read at least three reputable, independent expert reviews, weigh where they agree and where they disagree, and reach our own conclusion: a single score out of 10 that reflects the consensus.
How a score is built
- Gather. We collect at least three independent expert reviews per bike, plus the manufacturer's figures.
- Verify the specs. Price, power, weight, and seat height are cross-checked across sources; where figures differ, we use the most-cited real-world number.
- Weigh the verdicts. We look for the through-line: what every reviewer praises, what they consistently criticise, and where opinion genuinely splits.
- Conclude. We write our own one-line verdict and assign a score that a well-loved bike with real flaws can't fake.
Every bike in our finder and ranked lists shows the reviews its score was consolidated from, so you can check our work.
Independence
Our rankings are never paid for. Some links are affiliate links, but they never influence a score or a placement; we recommend on merit alone. When a bike is genuinely flawed, we say so.
